Anesthetized for PT and to possibly remove pellet. Radiographs showed the ulna fracture very nicely aligned and calloused. Good ROM, slightly decreased at wrist but almost normal. Tried to palpate the pellet still apparent on the radiographs - to me it looked like it could be in a feather shaft, but I placed some needles in the feathers I thought near it and they were too far away. Apparently it is in the thin flesh just above the follicles. I think i can feel it - but am reluctant to fish for it, might cause too much trauma. There is scabbing and some inflammation at the feather follicles in that area, some of the feathers are a bit rough, obviously due to the disruption from the pellet. Opted to leave bandage off. If in the future this bird has any trouble with flight, feather growth, or is messing with the area I think it will be worth it to try to remove the pellet. Moved to bigger habitat. Check wing edge in 1 week. Dr Gardner

Bird had removed fig 8 completely this morning, so rewrapped with padding and placed velcro wrap over top, secured w duct tape. Quick recovery from ISO, very active.
